Why I started India Rising
India is underreported. Misunderstood. Underestimated. And wrongly perceived.
India is underreported. Misunderstood.
Underestimated. And wrongly perceived.
I get often asked why I started India Rising. My replies always start with these short sentences as these are the reason why I wanted to change that.
I’ve been to Asia countless times, of course including to India, and seen first hand not only how much the overall region is changing. But how differently it’s evolving compared to public opinion and perception.
Let me put it in numbers for India:
India is the world’s largest democracy.
India’s GDP will grow by 6.6-6.8% in 2025 and is expected to overtake Germany as third largest economy by 2027 or 2028.
India will be the 2nd largest consumer market by 2030.
India has the 3rd largest startup ecosystem.
India has the 3rd largest renewable energy market and is constructing the world's largest renewable energy park (30 GW in Khavda, Gujarat).
India’s real estate sector is booming and will become larger than Germany’s entire GDP over the next 2 decades.
India’s digital payments system UPI processes more daily payments than Visa.
India has been Blackstone’s best performing market for years.
Indian businesses are acquiring European competitors, whether it’s Iveco, Jaguar Land Rover, or potentially ThyssenKrupp.
The list could go on and I think you see my point. A lot is happening and I think many will notice way too late.
Obviously there are many issues as well, nobody is denying them.
But there's so much more happening that deserves attention. And India Rising’s community tries to contribute to it!
