Why India’s potential remains misunderstood.

I recently attended Hannover Messe and engaged with numerous industry leaders about India's business landscape. And one misperception often persists.

While many expressed interest in India's potential, the often immediate response "You mean outsourcing?" reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of what modern India offers, particularly through its Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

Synergies in innovation and engineering capabilities are immense. While US companies have long leveraged this value, European businesses only started taking note.

So what exactly is a GCC and why does it matter? Drawing from insights by Zinnov and partner Mohammed Faraz Khan:

1️⃣ Outsourcing:
A third-party Service Provider sets up and manages offshore operations, employing its own staff and delivering work based on contractual SLAs.

2️⃣ BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer):
A vendor sets up and runs operations temporarily before transferring ownership to the client. A transition model.

3️⃣ GCC:
Companies directly establish and operate their own offshore entities – hiring talent, owning IP, and embedding their global strategy. Driving innovation internally from day one.
