India Overtakes Japan as 4th Largest Economy
India’s economy now 4th largest.
The signal: Germany next.
Just before the end of the year, news outlets such as Deutsche Welle shared that India’s economy is now larger than Japan’s thanks to accelerating economic growth in the last quarters and strong domestic demands.
Some numbers:
GDP 2025: USD 4.18 trillion
GDP 2030: USD 7.3 trillion (projected)
Growth y-o-y in last quarter (Q2 FY 2025-26): 8.2%
There are many reasons why this growth will continue. One crucial signal though: A growing number of European businesses is already entering and expanding in India, or preparing for more trade thanks to the upcoming India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
This will impact business strategies, change corporate real estate portfolios, and require context to not fall behind.
2026 will be a pivotal year for the EU-India partnership.
